The IPX3456 rain test chamber is used to test the waterproof performance of products at different levels. The chamber is mostly made of stainless steel, with built-in swing pipes and nozzles, and the water flow parameters are accurately controlled through auxiliary equipment such as flow meters.
IPX3 can simulate water spraying, with the swing pipe swinging angle of ±60°;
IPX4 simulates splashing water, with the swing pipe swinging angle of ±180°;
IPX5 uses a specific nozzle for water spraying test;
IPX6 can simulate a strong water spraying environment.
It is widely used in home appliances, electronics, automotive parts and other industries. By simulating rain scenes of different intensities, it tests the waterproof ability of products and provides a basis for product quality control and design improvement.
Car-mounted LiDAR undergoes rain test
As a core component of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and autonomous driving system, the waterproof performance of automotive radar is directly related to the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
Problem 1: Water ingress into the radar
Cause: The shell is not tightly sealed or the sealing ring is aging.
Solution: Improve the sealing design and use higher performance sealing materials.
Problem 2: Signal attenuation
Cause: Rain interferes with the radar signal.
Solution: Optimize the antenna design and signal processing algorithm of the radar.
New ultra-thin tent material undergoes rain test
Although silicone-coated nylon fabrics are inherently waterproof, rain tests can be used to accurately test their ability to prevent rainwater from penetrating under different rainfall intensities and durations, and to determine whether they can meet the needs of using the tent in various rainy weather environments. For example, testing whether it can ensure that the interior of the tent is dry when heavy rain (rainfall of more than 50 mm per hour) lasts for two hours.
If the inside is damp, with obvious water stains or leaks, it means that the waterproof performance does not meet the standards and the cause needs to be analyzed. It may be uneven coating thickness, poor sealing at the seams, etc., and the material or structural design can be improved.
Outdoor photovoltaic energy storage battery rain test
The international community follows the IEC 60529 standard, and generally requires a higher level of protection for outdoor photovoltaic energy storage batteries. For example, IPX5 and above. The IPX5 standard requires that at a water flow rate of 12.5 liters per minute, a nozzle with a diameter of 6.3 mm be used to spray water at a distance of 2.5 to 3 meters from the sample for 3 minutes from all directions to detect whether the battery has water ingress. The higher IPX6 standard requires that at a water flow rate of 100 liters per minute, a nozzle with a diameter of 12.5 mm be used to spray water at a distance of 2.5 to 3 meters from the sample for 10 minutes from all directions to ensure the waterproof performance of the battery in extreme weather such as heavy rain.
Structural stability test of honeycomb carton
The penetration and soaking of rainwater may affect the structural strength of honeycomb cartons. The test aims to observe whether the overall structure of the honeycomb cartons will deform or collapse during and after the rain, and whether the connections between the parts are still firm, so as to evaluate its structural stability in a humid environment. If the size changes greatly and the structural strength decreases significantly, further research is needed on how to improve its structural stability under humid conditions, such as optimizing the honeycomb structure design and strengthening the strength of the connection parts.
Water resistance test of molds with special surface treatment
Special surface treatment (such as electroplating, chemical plating, coating, etc.) is to enhance the performance of the mold, but the treated layer may react chemically or be physically damaged when in contact with rainwater. The rain test can test whether the surface treatment layer has bubbling, peeling, dissolution, etc. under the scouring of rainwater, and evaluate its water resistance. If there is obvious bubbling, peeling, dissolution, and obvious color change, the severity of the problem should be evaluated. For minor problems, the surface treatment process can be optimized, and for serious problems, the treatment plan needs to be redesigned.
The primary purpose is to ensure flight safety. If it rains during flight, rainwater will seep into key components such as motors, batteries, and flight control systems, causing short circuits, failures, or even crashes, endangering the safety of people and property. The second is to ensure the quality of shooting. If the lens and camera are not waterproof, rain will affect the clarity and stability of the picture, and even damage the camera. If there are problems such as water ingress, short circuit, loss of control of flight attitude, abnormal shooting, etc., it will be judged as failed, and it is necessary to analyze the waterproof design defects, sealing process problems, etc., and retest after improvement. Improve product reliability and durability and reduce after-sales costs.
